Songbird Elite Series instruments are built to order and will ship 18 days after the purchase date.
This Songbird Elite Baritone ukulele is a joy to play! The mahogany body is light in weight and dripping with rich, snappy tone. The Elite series has the same woods as the standard Songbird instruments, but with a dual pickups system, 12" radius fretboard, and coil splitting for both pickups. This expands the sonic options extensively as compared to the single pickup standard models.
This series has a quartersawn cherry neck, Richlite fingerboard (no radius), maple dot inlays and a 2-way adjustable truss rod that guarantees buttery action and amazing playability.
The pickups are hand built and wound in-house to our specs! The Alnico V magnets yield a rich and touch sensitive tone and exceptional clarity.
The bridge pickup is a “humbucker” which provides noise free operation and thick tone. Pulling out on the tone knob engages “single coil split” mode which yields crystalline single coil tones and bell-like chime. The “resistance dropping” circuit lowers the 500k potentiometer value (typically perfect for humbucking pickups) to about 290K, which is much more suitable for a single coil pickup. This provides an even more accurate approximation of single coil character. The neck pickup is also a humbucker and can be activated by itself, or in combination with the bridge pickup. In coil split mode the neck and bridge pickups are RWRP (reverse wound reverse polarity) which offers true Strat style "quack".
The body is designed for ergonomics and comfort. The cutaway allows for easy access to the highest frets and the arm lean on the top ensures maximum comfort. The belly cut on the back makes this electric ukulele perfectly suited for standing or seated performance.
All Sparrow ukuleles are strung with our custom selected set of D'addario strings to ensure the perfect balance of feel, playability, ergonomics, tone and intonation. This uke comes standard with DGBE tuning.
The action is low and light and this uke will come out of the box set up and ready to shred!

Electronics:
The controls are standard volume and tone with a 3-way switch to toggle between pickup options. The Alnico 5 magnet hand wound, custom designed pickup has 6500 turns (per coil) of 42 gauge copper. This gives the pickup a warm, organic tone that reacts nicely to picking nuance. All the bridge saddles are properly grounded to provide the quietest operation possible.
This bridge and neck pickups are wired for “coil splitting”. To access this feature, simply pull out on the tone knob and it will engage a switch that deactivates half of the pickup providing a much more “single coil” tone.
This model offers 5 pickup tones:
1) Bridge humbucker - switch position 1
2) Bridge "Coil split" (pull out on tone knob) - switch position 1
3) Bridge humbucker combined with neck humbucker - switch position 2
4) Bridge "Coil split" (pull out on tone knob) combined with neck humbucker "Coil split" - switch position 2
5) Neck humbucker - switch position 3
6) Neck "Coil split" (pull out on tone knob) - switch position 3

Tuning: DGBE
Fretboard Radius: 12" radius
Bridge: We use individual string saddles to allow for optimum string spacing for the best feel and performance. The bridge saddles have individually adjustable intonation screws as well as standard height adjustment.
Nut: The nut is hand carved out of bone.
Tuners: 15:1 ratio geared tuners.
